The Ministry of Emergency Situations called a short circuit a possible cause of the fire at the car plant in Kaluga

The fire occurred around noon. The fire has already been extinguished. The prosecutor’s office began an investigation into the fire.

“The preliminary reason is a short circuit,” the source said.

Initially, at the AGR plant (formerly Volkswagen) in Kaluga, plastic caught fire in the body shop. The flames then spread to the polystyrene foam used to insulate the walls of the building. Footage from the scene showed thick smoke escaping from under the roof and from ventilation pipes throughout the entire area of ​​the industrial building.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations assessed the area of ​​the fire more modestly: according to the ministry, as of 13:15 Moscow time, the area of ​​the fire increased from 300 to 700 square meters. meters.
