The state announced additional support measures. Firstly, the discount on electric cars of categories N2 and M2 (for example, “batteries” wagons and minibuses E-Gazelle) has grown. Secondly, the discount on preferential leasing for public transport is increased from 10% to 40%. In 2025, 27 billion rubles were allocated from the budget for the car support program in 2025. The fuel analogue is still much more affordable: the passenger version is sold at a price of 3.8-4.0 million rubles, depending on the equipment and the number of seats.

The high cost of electric vehicles is not only a Russian problem. In Europe, “Battery” versions of Volkswagen or Mercedes-Benz van are also twice as much as diesel analogues, and without state subsidies, piece-rate subsidies. But in China, electric cars directly compete with fuel analogues in all categories of LCV.
