The new BMW X5 will be a hybrid with a la Lixiang technology

The first consistent BMW hybrid after a long break will be the X5 of the sixth generation, but the engineers seriously consider the possibility of replicating the system for promising X3 and X7 in 2026.

BMW released the first serial car with a sequential hybrid back in 2013: then the technology was tested at the i3 city. Since 2018, there are no cars with a gasoline extension cord in the BMW gamut, but everything can change. Autocar sources say that electrification by analogy with Lixiang is chosen for the sake of the Chinese market, where hybrids without communication with wheels are laid by electric cars.
