The first consistent BMW hybrid after a long break will be the X5 of the sixth generation, but the engineers seriously consider the possibility of replicating the system for promising X3 and X7 in 2026.
BMW released the first serial car with a sequential hybrid back in 2013: then the technology was tested at the i3 city. Since 2018, there are no cars with a gasoline extension cord in the BMW gamut, but everything can change. Autocar sources say that electrification by analogy with Lixiang is chosen for the sake of the Chinese market, where hybrids without communication with wheels are laid by electric cars.

Consistent BMW X5 hybrids will not replace the usual fuel versions: it is believed that new modifications will be offered in some markets. It is curious that in 2024 the BMW boss Oliver Tsips told investors that the technology of consistent hybrids is too expensive, and combining the ICE and a large battery is absurd from the point of view of finances.

It is not known whether the consistent hybrid will be replaced by a substitute for a loaded hybrid or both systems will exist in parallel.
