Initially, the car appeared in documents and media under the symbol SC-01, but recently its designation changed. As CarNewsChina reports, the sports model has become part of the JMEV brand line and received the index 01. The car is being developed through the efforts of the startup Tianjin Gongjianpai Auto Technology, which previously received financial support from Xiaomi in the amount of tens of millions of yuan. A few days earlier, images of the production version of the sports car appeared on the Internet.

The prototype of the “national Chinese sports car” was first shown in 2022. It received an electric power plant, which included two electric motors with a total power of 425 horsepower. The creators stated that from zero to 100 kilometers per hour, the sports two-seater electric car weighing about 1.3 tons accelerates in 3.9 seconds and travels up to 500 kilometers on the NEDC cycle without recharging. At that time, the preliminary price was announced – 300 thousand yuan, which in terms of the current exchange rate is 4.2 million rubles.

Earlier this month, the Chinese portal Autohome.com.cn obtained images of the production version of the SC-01. This is still an electric coupe with a length of just over four meters, the curb weight of which is 1,365 kilograms. That is, in terms of form factor, the closest competitor of the new product may be MG Cyberster. The production version differs from the SC-01 prototype by a completely redesigned aerodynamic body kit, larger exterior mirrors and air intakes, as well as a more developed diffuser. Tire size – 245/40 ZR18.

According to new information, the SC-01 will enter the Chinese market under the JMEV brand, a brand created in 2015 by the joint efforts of JMC (Jiangling Motors Corporation) and the French Renault. Russians are familiar with the JMEV thanks to Amberauto: the Kaliningrad-based Avtotor’s own brand took the Chinese mid-size JMEV GSE sedan as the basis for its A5 model.
