In the center console of a modest 1980s Toyota van, manufacturers hid a refrigerator compartment with a freezer and ice cube trays. Carscoops reports this.
Toyota has long had a reputation for producing reliable and high-quality cars. However, many still consider her models boring and inexpressive. Like any brand, Toyota has faced setbacks, but it has also created many iconic cars and introduced technologies that have influenced the entire industry. The classic LiteAce van, for example, had several unusual features, although one of them never became widespread.
The Toyota minivan of 1984 – early 1990s was equipped with options that cannot be found in modern Rolls-Royce or Mercedes-Maybach. In addition to the refrigerator, it had a built-in ice maker – a real freezer in a console.
Toyota has placed a Cool & Hot Box refrigerator in the console between the front seats. It held six cans of drinks, and the separate freezer was equipped with two ice trays that filled with water and quickly froze. Cooling was carried out by refrigerant pipes from a dual-zone air conditioning system – this system was available as an additional option.
