The problematic Chinese brand Jidu will remain in Russia

This statement was made by its distributor, the Boriskhof dealer. He maintains plans to launch and develop the brand on the Russian market, as well as provide service support and fulfill warranty obligations, according to the company’s website. Jidu itself, according to Boriskhof, is undergoing a “strategic restructuring.” At the same time, in mid-December, Chinese media [писали](https://motor.ru/news/jidu-crash-china-14-12-2024.htm) that the young brand went bankrupt.

Boriskhof notes that it has already delivered the first Jidu cars to customers – electric crossovers Robocar 01 with a dual-motor installation, like the Zeekr 001, and a power reserve of 700 kilometers. It was reported that several dozen electric vehicles were delivered to Russia at prices starting from 6.6 million rubles.

The start of sales in the Russian Federation was announced only at the end of November, and in mid-December it became known that Jidu’s staff had been disbanded due to financial problems. Its head, Xia Yiping, announced the closure of the brand to employees. The reason was a “hole” in the budget of seven billion yuan. It was reported that Jidu owed money to its parent Geely, from which it purchased components.

In Russia, car dealerships of one Chinese brand began to close. In Russia, they began to officially sell a “clone” of Zeekr: prices. The new cross-hatch from Geely and Volvo changed its equipment and fell in price by half

In addition to Geely, Jidu shares are owned by the “Chinese Google” Baidu. The latter recently sold part of its assets and now owns 35 percent of the shares, and Geely has a controlling stake of 65 percent.

As for the “firstborn” Jidu Robocar 01 (or Robo-01), it went on sale in China in 2023 and was not received very warmly. The second model, the 07 sedan, slightly boosted sales, but they remained modest: from January to November 2024, Jidu managed to sell only 13.8 thousand cars on the huge Chinese market.
