The Russian government has approved a plan according to which the procedure for technical inspection of vehicles should be improved by 2028. This is reported by TASS, which has familiarized itself with the document.
In accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture were instructed to develop a set of measures aimed at improving technical inspection and increasing its effectiveness in ensuring road safety. The government expects a report on the results in 2028.
At the same time, the process will not be limited to one stage: the possibility of sending additional reports to the Cabinet of Ministers “if necessary” is provided.
Currently, technical inspection is mandatory for cars older than four years, as well as when registering or replacing units. Company vehicles are checked more frequently. During the procedure, the brake system, steering, lights, windshield wipers, tires and wheels, engine, mirrors and safety systems are inspected.
