The Russian car market became the second in the European standings

In August, 122,235 new cars were sold in Russia, Avtostat calculated. This is 17.6 percent less than in the same month of 2025, but this year it [максимальный результат](https://motor.ru/news/august-sales-04-09-2025.htm). This allowed the country to rise even higher in the rating of European markets: if in June it was sixth, in July – [уже третьим](https://motor.ru/news/europe-market-20-08-2025.htm), then in August, according to Globaldata, took the second line.

In Germany, in the last month of summer, 207,229 new cars were implemented – five percent more than in August 2024. France closed the top three, where 87,850 cars were sold (+2.2 percent).

This is followed by the UK with 82,908 sold cars and a reduction in the market by two percent. The country sank into two positions in a month. Behind it is Italy, the indicator of which is 67,272 cars and a fall by 2.7 percent in an annual comparison.

Spain, located in sixth place, showed a result of 61,315 cars sold and the most significant growth – by 17.2 percent.

Earlier, analysts transferred the most popular cars among Russians in the segment from 3 to 5 million rubles. These are entirely Chinese crossovers: the first in January-August was the Jaecoo J7, the second-GAC GS8, the third-Jetour T2.
