The Volkswagen ID.7 electric liftback travels 940 kilometers on a single charge

Efficiency tests were carried out on the Nardo ring in Italy. The average speed during the tests was 29 kilometers, which roughly corresponds to the speed of traffic in major European cities during rush hour.

Volkswagen has reported another achievement. In December, at the Nardo ring, built in 1975 and owned by Porsche Engineering since 2012, one of the brand’s test drivers managed to drive a standard ID.7 electric liftback a third more than stated in the passport. With an energy consumption of just 9.2 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers, the equivalent of one liter of diesel, the car covered 941 kilometers on a single charge, although its WLTP range is 709 kilometers.

Volkswagen Hyundai Ioniq 5 sets a Guinness record for the largest elevation change in one trip

The ID.7 Pro S with a battery capacity of 86 kilowatt-hours and a 286-horsepower electric motor took part in the race. No changes were made to either the technology or the design, which means it was a completely production electric car. The air temperature during testing varied from +5 to +15 degrees Celsius. The average speed was 29 kilometers per hour, which corresponds to the speed of traffic in large European cities during rush hour.

Volkswagen Toyota Prius sets a record for fuel consumption

The result for a commercial vehicle is certainly impressive, and can be compared with the performance of the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX prototype. He traveled from Riyadh to Dubai – this is 1010 kilometers – and at the end of the journey there was still 309 kilometers of energy left. At the same time, the route ran along city streets and highways, and the air warmed up to +34 degrees Celsius. Average energy consumption was a record 7.4 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers, which corresponds to 0.83 liters per “hundred” for fuel cars.
