The rating was compiled by the portal Topspeed.com. The models on this list have been thoroughly researched to provide the most accurate information possible about their reliability at the time of publication. Cars are rated on a 100-point scale.
The 2017 BMW 4 Series took first place, earning 90 points out of a possible 100 for reliability. It doesn’t have the cooling system issues or other common failures of earlier models; some owners report problems with the crankshaft position sensor, but these aren’t as common.
Second place goes to the 2013 BMW 1 Series with a score of 89 points out of 100. Common problems include failure of the high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) in turbocharged models, breakdown of the timing mechanism and coolant leaks.
The 2020 BMW 2 Series comes in third with a score of 88 out of 100. Common problems are mostly related to water pumps and oil leaks.
They are followed by the 2016 BMW 5 Series (88 points), 2017 BMW X3 (86 points), 2007 BMW Z4 (85 points), 2018 BMW X5 (84 points), 2011 BMW 7 Series (84 points), 2016 BMW 3 Series (83 points) and 2017 BMW i3 (83 points).
