Topspeed lists 10 cars that failed to sell due to stereotypes

According to the portal, some cars deserve a long memory of their owners not due to their bright appearance or high-profile premieres, but due to their fundamental qualities: reliability, thoughtful ergonomics, comfort and low operating costs. They do their work quietly and without unnecessary pathos, but that is why they quickly disappear from people’s memory.

Topping the list is the 2019 Ford Flex. The boxy Ford Flex station wagon stood out from its competitors for its practicality. A spacious three-row interior, a low floor for easy loading and excellent road holding made it a rational choice for a family. However, the “grandfather’s” proportions did not fit into the era of tall SUVs, and the technology was hopelessly outdated by the time it was discontinued.

Second place goes to the 2016 Hyundai Equus. It offered S-Class-level luxury for significantly less money. Under the hood is a 429-horsepower V8, in the cabin there is library silence and plenty of space for rear passengers. It has all the qualities that luxury executive car buyers look for, except for one thing: brand prestige.

In third place is the Buick Regal TourX 2020. This European station wagon, sold under the American Buick brand, combined all-wheel drive, a turbo engine and handling worthy of the best German sedans. Its low roof made loading easy, and it remained comfortable and quiet on the road. But the US market has already relied on crossovers, and the elegant station wagon has fallen out of favor.

The list of failed vehicles also included the 2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, 2018 Subaru Legacy 3.6R, 2020 Lincoln MKZ Black Label, 2017 Nissan Juke Nismo, 2020 Volvo V90, 2017 Mazda6 and 2017 Chevrolet SS.
