Toyota announced a new crossover for Europe

The European division of the Japanese brand announced the first image and a short video type of the coming model, the name of which is still kept secret. It follows from the official release that it will be completely shown on March 12, while no other details are given in the publication. It is expected that it will be a power crossover with a composite body ready for serial production.

So far, the only image is captured by the car in profile. On a darkened teaser, only its silhouette can be considered-a sloping roof with an antenna-“fin”, a relief hood, a narrow optics in front and behind, as well as ordinary door handles. It seems that this is a cross-wreck, which means that the mysterious novelty is probably a serial embodiment of the Toyota BZ Compact SUV concept of 2022. If so, but in the model line of the brand it will take a step below the BZ4X and will become an electric alternative to C-HR crossover.

The mentioned BZ Compact SUV was shown several years ago at the Los Angeles Motor Show. The show-Kara had a double spoiler and the helm instead of a traditional steering wheel, reminiscent of the one that is installed in modern Tesla. However, neither one nor the other, most likely, will be obtained by the serial crossover.

While the BZ line is represented by the BZ4X crossover and the BZ3 sedan. The crossover is sold to Japan, China, the USA and Europe, and Toyota had problems with this model. Only six months after the start of sales, an electric car was discovered by a dangerous defect – it turned out that with sharp turns and braking, the wheels could fall off the crossover. Because of this, Toyota had to be withdrawn and even redeemed already sold cars from customers.

As for the BZ3 sedan, it developed its Toyota together with the Chinese BYD and FAW. It is sold in the PRC, where it costs cheaper than its main competitor in the person of Tesla Model 3. So, the basic rear-wheel drive sedan with an 184-horsepower electric motor and autonomy of 517 kilometers (CLTC) was estimated at 169.8 thousand yuan (about two million rubles at the course of today).

In total, the BZ family will include seven electric vehicles.
