Toyota began selling the smallest Land Cruiser SUV in Japan

According to the brand’s press service, the most compact and cheapest model in the Land Cruiser line is offered in a single configuration at a price of 4.5 million yen (which is about 2.1 million rubles at the current exchange rate), Carscoops reports.

The new product was named after the FJ Cruiser model, which was produced from 2006 to 2022. In terms of dimensions, the SUV turned out to be even more compact than the Toyota RAV4 crossover: its length is 4575 mm and its wheelbase is 2580 mm.

At launch in Japan, the Land Cruiser FJ is available exclusively with a naturally aspirated 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine developing 163 hp. and 246 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system with a rear differential lock.

The front suspension is independent with double wishbones, the rear is four-link with Panhard rod. The model’s equipment includes LED optics, 18-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.3-inch central multimedia system screen, a heated steering wheel and all seats, as well as the Toyota Safety Sense active safety complex.

The interior is designed for five people, the trunk volume is 795 liters, and with the second row folded it increases to 1607 liters. The Land Cruiser FJ entered the Japanese market following its appearance in Thailand, where production of the model was established.

Apart from these two countries, the SUV will also be sold in South Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Latin America and India. But in Europe and North America, new products are not expected: Europe was excluded due to strict environmental regulations, and North America due to high import duties.

Earlier it was reported that the flagship crossover Wey V9X passed winter tests in Russia.
