The company representative told Car and Driver that there was no great demand for such a modification among American clients. At the same time, theoretically Toyota 4runner with a 6-speed “mechanics” is possible: since the architecture of the TNGA-F SUV is the same as that of the current Tacoma pickup, with a 2.4-liter I-FORCE gasoline, not only an 8-speed automatic can be combined.

Toyota 4runner of the sixth generation debuted last year, and technically the SUV is close to the Tacoma truck. However, the Pikap has a 6-speed “mechanics” in combination with a 2.4 turbo engine (274 hp, 420 Nm), and an SUV is only with an automatic machine. If customers ask, the three -pipal 4runner will also appear, but in the United States such a situation is unlikely.

The fact is that Toyota 4runner is available only with an automatic machine of 25 years: the mechanics refused after the 2000 model year in the third generation of the model. Other markets offer an ideologically similar Fortuner SUV, and it has a 5-speed “mechanics” in conjunction with an old gasoline “atmospheric” with a volume of 2.7 liters. However, the ocean prefer two -pedal options.

In the USA, in the segment of new pickups only Toyota Tacoma happens with “mechanics”: all other models, regardless of the overall size and type of power plant, are deprived of the adhesion pedal. The reason is simple: according to statistics, a manual gearbox selects 2 percent of customers! Among the SUVs on the “handle” only Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler are available.
