Unmanned trucks will reduce transportation costs by about 25%

The use of highly automated vehicles will allow saving about 15% on drivers, while many costs will be reduced precisely due to the fact that unmanned vehicles will generate more kilometers. This opinion is shared by Samat Sattarov, General Director of National Carrier JSC (KAMAZ group of companies).

According to the carrier’s estimates, an integrated system for operating unmanned trucks can reduce the cost of transportation by approximately 25%. But for the savings to be more significant, the supply chain system must be completely modernized.

Yandex provides other calculations: according to the company’s estimates, unmanned trucks can reduce transportation costs by 5-10%. The carrier currently has a fleet of 32 trucks that operate on the Moscow – St. Petersburg and Moscow – Rostov-on-Don routes.
