Unmanned Yandex trucks will begin operating on the M-11 Neva and M-12 Vostok highways

Autonomous vehicles, built on the basis of the Chinese Shacman X6000 truck tractor, will enter new routes next year. Thanks to the ability to operate robotic vehicles on two federal highways, the company will expand its testing program for unmanned vehicles.

An autonomous Yandex truck made the first delivery of cargo from Moscow to Tula along the M-4 Don highway in October of this year. Company representatives then said that unmanned vehicles would increase the efficiency of cargo transportation, improve road safety, and also solve the problem of personnel shortages.

Last summer, the M-11 Neva became the first highway in Russia where unmanned cargo transportation was launched in test mode. Last August, the list of highways with permitted autonomous transport was supplemented by the M-12 Vostok and the Central Ring Road.

At the beginning of September, Russia announced the introduction of unmanned trucks on new highways. Then the authorities reported that autonomous vehicles were being tested in a dozen regions of the country.
