The last Arteon Shooting Brake rolled off the assembly line at the Osnabrück plant. Volkswagen initially planned to produce the station wagon until 2026, but plans changed and production has already ceased. Arteon liftbacks have not been produced for almost a year; in total, about 190,000 successors to the Passat CC have been made since 2017. In 2020, the model was officially supplied to Russia for about six months.
In Europe, the cessation of production of the Volkswagen Arteon is logical, because the stylish station wagon could take away buyers from the new two-volume Passat. However, not only the Arteon (station wagon) is alive in China, but also the older Passat CC (liftback)! Both models are still available at dealers, and retirement has not yet been announced.

Two years ago it was believed that the “global” Arteon would be replaced by an electric car, but the ID.7 family is similar to its gasoline predecessors except in form factor. Sales in the competitive Chinese market have been disastrous, and in Europe the five-door is in short supply.
Last December, Volkswagen said goodbye to the legendary gasoline engine family. After 34 years, the production line stopped producing VR6 engines. The offset-in-line engines were replaced by conventional 2.0-liter turbo-fours.
