Volkswagen T-ROC moved to the second generation

Eight years after the premiere of the “first” T-ROC Volkswagen, it will present the second generation of one of its most popular models. The crossover freshened outside and inside, increased in size and received a motor gamut, which first included a full -fledged hybrid installation based on the 1.5 TSI EVO2 motor.

The “second” Volkswagen T-ROC is based on the MQB EVO platform. In length, the crossover reaches 4373 millimeters – 122 more than the predecessor. The wheelbase has also grown up (28 millimeters to 2631), which allowed to increase the space in the second row and in the trunk, where at least 475 liters of cargo (+30) are now fitting.

Outwardly, the crossover approached the Volkswagen electric car family. In addition to the fact that T-ROC has become more modern, aerodynamics improved: the frontal resistance coefficient increased by 10 percent, to 0.29. The maximum dimension of the wheel discs is 20 inches.

At the start, the crossover will be offered in “soft-hybrid” versions with a 1.5-liter ETSI engine and a 48-volt “appendage”, which briefly gives 19 forces. They are aggregated with a seven -speed “robot” and develop 116 or 150 horsepower (220 and 250 nm, respectively). Later, a hybrid system based on TSI EVO2 1.5 will enter the line, also in two power variants – 136 and 170 forces (306 nm in both cases). Finally, the TSI two-liter motor is also declared, including in the temperate hybrid version. Together with him, T-ROC will receive a 4Motion all-wheel drive. Initially, only the front will be available.
