Volkswagen will offer Chinese-made cars to residents of Kazakhstan

Documents for the second generation Volkswagen Tayron L have been published in the Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) register. As noted by Kolesa. kz, cars will be supplied to Kazakhstan from the FAW-Volkswagen plant in Changchun, China.

The dimensions of the Volkswagen Tayron L are 4695 × 1866 × 1684 mm, and the wheelbase is 2791 mm. For comparison, this Volkswagen is 45 mm longer than the popular Hyundai Tucson.

Buyers will be offered a modification equipped with a 2-liter 220-horsepower (350 Nm) turbo engine, a 7-speed DSG “robot” and two types of drive – front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

Tayron L is the alter ego of the third generation Tiguan in local specification. The model is based on the MQB Evo platform, produced at FAW-Volkswagen facilities and available with a five- or seven-seater cabin.

The Chinese Tayron L practically copies both the European Tayron and the local Tiguan L in appearance: the difference is in the design of the body kit, decorative details and body panels.

The easiest way to recognize Chinese Volkswagen crossovers is by their three-screen front panel: the passenger has a separate touchscreen. Another feature is the contour lighting of the door cards at the level of the handles.
