What crossovers and SUVs love most in Russia: Rating

The rating is based on data on the sales of new cars from Avtostat. In February, the Russian car market sagged by a quarter, and the demand for some models of the SUV segment fell, but in general the trend remains: the Russians still prefer the crossovers of Chinese brands. So, for example, the Haval Jolion and the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max are more popular than Lada Niva Travel and Niva Legend.

According to statistics, in February 2025 the best -sold model in the SUV segment (crossovers and SUVs) became Haval Jolion, which also retained the title of favorite foreign car of Russians. In the last month of winter, Jolion spread in the amount of 3770 copies, which is 25.2 percent less than its result in February 2024. And although Jolion is a foreign car, it is produced in Russia, at the Haval factory in the Tula region.

In second place in the rating of the most popular crossovers and SUVs was another “Chinese”, already imported – Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max. Its indicator amounted to 3652 units, which corresponds to a fall by 2.9 percent in an annual comparison. The domestic Lada Niva Travel (2771 pieces, -33.6 percent) closed the top three, behind which the classic Niva Legend (2095 pcs, -49.4 percent) are located in fourth place. The fifth line went to another CHERI model, the Tiggo 4 Pro crossover (2086 pcs., -24.6 percent).

In the sixth position, the Changan UNI -S/CS55 Plus (2075 pcs, -0.5 percent), the seventh Geely Monjaro (1912 pcs., -60.4 percent), on the eighth is the Haval M6 (1793 pcs. -27.4 percent). pcs., -34.8 percent), and the Haval F7 rating closes (1346 pcs., -26.5 percent).

In total, according to the results of February, 78 thousand new cars were sold in Russia, and this is 24.9 percent less than in the same month of 2024. Since the beginning of the year, that is, in two full months, the volume of the Russian market amounted to 167,112 new cars, which is 9.3 percent less than for the same period of 2024.
