6-cylinder engines will return to the Mercedes-AMG C-Class

Mercedes-AMG admitted that switching the high-performance versions of the C-Class to 2-liter four-cylinder engines was a strategic mistake. Now the company is forced to change its strategy by introducing larger units.

The current Mercedes-AMG C 43 and GLC 43 will be sent to their well-deserved retirement. They will be replaced by the Mercedes-AMG C 53 and GLC 53, which will be equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-six engine producing 443 hp.

They promised a better emotional response, a cleaner exhaust and, of course, a thoroughbred sound. In the meantime, C-class cars are losing sales to their main competitor – the BMW M3 family, and remotorization should increase demand.
