Three weeks ago, a fire broke out on board, which the team could not cope with: the ship was abandoned and left to burn out. It sank on June 23 in international waters off the coast of the Aleutian Islands, the Zodiac Maritime management company said.
At the place of emergency, two rescue tugboats with special equipment remain as a precaution, New York Post said with reference to Zodiac Maritime. Their task is to track any signs of pollution or garbage. In addition, a specialized ship to combat pollution was sent to the scene.
