Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that tightens the punishment for drivers for refusing to stop at the request of the police. The “initial” fine increased 14 times. In addition, now the police have a new basis for the deprivation of a driver’s license – thus they will punish for repeated violation.
The bill makes corrections to Part 2 of Article 12.25 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. For failure to fulfill the requirements of police officers to stop drivers, previously fined 500-800 rubles. Now the fine will be from seven thousand to 10 thousand rubles. The lawmakers note that the previous punishment was too soft and did not scare away drivers from violations.
The law complements the article by another part regarding a repeated refusal of stopping on demand. In this case, the driver will face a fine of 10 thousand rubles or deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of four to six months.
In Russia, they want to replace obsolete chambers of fixation of traffic violations of the SDA. The average amount of the traffic police fine almost reached a thousand rubles, the Moscow authorities approved a new penalty for taxi drivers
Another innovation is the amendments to Article 12.21.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, introducing fines in the amount of up to 600 thousand rubles for the non -compliance with the drivers of trucks requirements for the passage of weight and overall control. A similar fine is provided for movement with violations in automatic control zones. Foreigners will also be fined by 600 thousand, but in this case they will be obligated to pay the driver himself, not the company.
Meanwhile, the authorities of the regions want to receive the right to fine violators of the parking rules, bypassing the traffic police. The local police, according to the authors of the initiative, cannot cope, and the number of violators is constantly growing. The corresponding bill in June sent the Legislative Assembly of the Perm Territory to the State Duma.
