The BMWBlog portal has reviewed a dealer document, which confirms that production of the coupe will cease at the beginning of 2025, and new orders for the model are no longer accepted. In January, the Bavarian brand will process the already submitted applications, at which point the BMW M8 will be removed from the website and configurator. Only the convertible and Gran Coupe sedan of the same name will remain in the range, but their life cycle is coming to an end.

The BMW M8 family began with coupes and convertibles: two-doors debuted in June 2019. However, in terms of positioning, the “charged” “eight” overlapped with the M5, and in price it competed with such iconic models as the Porsche 911. As a result, sales did not live up to expectations: customers preferred the more practical four-door Gran Coupe to the traditional coupe.

Initially, the new generation of BMW 8-Series was planned for 2026, but now “niche” models are on pause: even if development begins, a new line of coupes, convertibles and coupe-like sedans will not appear until the end of the decade. According to insiders, the M8 Convertible and M8 Gran Coupe will also not remain on the assembly line, although there is no exact timeframe for the cessation of production yet.

According to unconfirmed reports, BMW marketers are considering maintaining the four-door V8 with the Gran Coupe prefix, and the new generation could be developed on the classic CLAR platform, and not on the promising Neue Klasse EV architecture. In any case, it is impossible to do without electrification, because otherwise it will not be possible to save the V8.
