Atelier DAMD showed another project: a subcompact WR-V with a retro-style design will be ready for the Tokyo Motor Show. The source of inspiration was the Jeep Cherokee XJ of the second half of the 1980s and early 1990s, but for legal reasons the specialists abandoned the signature seven-piece radiator grille. However, this did not affect the integrity of the image at all.

Japanese fakes

Honda WR-V is the most affordable crossover in the Japanese range. Prices range from 2.1 to 2.5 million yen (equivalent to 13.3-15.8 thousand dollars), and the model is assembled in India. The DAMD project will help add charisma: you will need to change the headlights, hood, radiator grille, bumper and wheels, as well as redo the interior.

The perception is changing radically: with DAMD tuning, the budget Honda WR-V looks older and more respectable. Cross-country ability should also improve, but this is more likely due to the BF Goodrich tires and the unpainted insert on the bottom of the front bumper, because they do not plan to touch the equipment. This means that a simple 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol engine (118 horsepower) is combined with a CVT and front-wheel drive.

The price of the tuning kit will be revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show in early January. Other bold projects are also expected at the exhibition: gradually the auto show has turned into the Japanese analogue of SEMA – there are almost no world premieres, but numerous custom cars, prototypes and concepts are shown by both automakers and third-party studios.
