Two competitors from the “Big German Three” are close to the conclusion of the alliance, writes the publication Manager Magazin. If the parties agree, then the BMW four-cylinder engines can be found under the hoods of hybrid Mercedes-Benz already in 2027. It is expected that the decision of German concerns will be made until the end of this year.

In particular, the following Mercedes can get a two -liter “turbocharger” B48, which has been produced for more than 10 years and is placed on many BMW and Mini. For example, M2 recently switched to it, having lost a six -cylinder turbo engine: the “four” on the compartment gives out 313 horsepower and 420 nm of torque.

Thus, Mercedes-Benz will be able to reduce the costs of developing new models with internal combustion engines. But the deal can continue: according to the sources of the publication, the parties discuss the ability to “share” transmissions and whole electrified installations.

Mercedes-Benz due to this cooperation will be able to focus on electrical units, as well as on six and eight-cylinder. BMW will increase both the revenue and the production volumes at the factory in the Austrian Steira.

According to the financial report of Mercedes-Benz, according to the results of the second quarter of 2025, the profit of the concern decreased by 69 percent compared to the same period last year, to 957 million euros. The manufacturer delivered 547 thousand cars (-9 percent), including minivans and low-tonnage trucks. To revive the business, Mercedes-Benz decided to adjust the course: now he does not rush to switch to electric cars, the demand for which is growing not as fast as expected.
