In Russia, 685 thousand new passenger cars were sold in 2025, which is 25% less than in 2024, while the market share of brands from China decreased in the Russian market to 51.7%. This was reported by the analytical agency Autostat with reference to the download of data from Electronic Passport JSC (operator of the EPTS system).
“One of the key reasons for the reduction in the share of “Chinese” is the transfer of a number of popular models to “localized” brands. Thus, some popular Belarusian-made Geelys are already widely sold under the Belgee brand, and Chery models are gradually being replaced by analogues produced in Kaluga under the Tenet brand,” the report says.
According to the agency, the most popular brands in 2025 were Haval, Chery, Geely, Changan and Jetour. In addition, the Haval Jolion, Geely Monjaro, Haval M6, Changan UNI-S/CS55 Plus and Haval F7 models were in demand on the Russian market.
Previously, auto expert Zinoviev noted that a used Ford Grand, which can be purchased for 1.5 million rubles, is resistant to rust. Among the shortcomings, the auto expert noted the high cost of repairs; 1.5 EcoBoost petrol turbo engines are “too risky an option.” According to Zinoviev, such engines often overheat, leaks, destruction of the piston group, as well as breakdowns of the head block gaskets can occur. Electricians can also “bring surprises.” The auto expert said that with dimensions of 4520 mm in length and ground clearance of 140 mm, the trunk volume ranges from 79 to 439 liters. At the same time, almost all Ford Grand C-Max minivans put up for sale are offered for 1.5 million rubles.
