The president of the Russian Automobile Dealers Association (ROAD), Alexey Podshchekolddin, stated this at a press conference in Moscow. According to his data, the share of cars older than 10 years in Russia exceeded 72% by the end of 2025.

According to him, in order for the vehicle fleet in Russia to rejuvenate, sales of new cars should be 3 million units annually.

“What happened in 2015 – the share of cars older than 10 years was 49%, and in 2025 it became 72%, the fleet has aged almost twice. And if we take LCV, then it was 58.8%, [стало] “76%,” said Podshchekoldin.

The average age of a car in use in Russia is currently 16-17 years, the head of the Road Traffic Safety Inspectorate said. If car sales in Russia amount to 3 million units per year, in 10 years a fleet of 30 million cars less than 10 years old will be formed, he pointed out.

According to the Automobile Manufacturers Committee of the Association of European Businesses in Russia, sales of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in the Russian Federation amounted to 1.35 million units in 2025. Taking into account parallel imports, the market volume exceeded 1.36 million cars.
