Kia showed an updated version of the second-generation Niro compact crossover. The first official images of the model without camouflage appeared after its tests in November. This was reported by the Kia press service.
The main changes affected the appearance. The front part has become more laconic and is made in the Opposites United corporate style. The headlights received a new shape and Star Map LED graphics, and the sidewalls lost the contrasting rear pillars. The rear has also undergone changes: there are smaller lights connected by a black strip, a new trunk without stamping to match the number and a modified bumper with less decor. The list of updates also includes new 18-inch wheels.
The interior features an updated steering wheel, similar to the steering wheel of the latest Kia models. The dashboard is now an open block of two 12.3-inch screens. The design of the air ducts and climate control unit remains the same, but the finishing materials and decorative trims have changed.
In the published photos, the HEV nameplate is visible, indicating a hybrid version. The current generation Niro is available with three types of powertrains: a hybrid HEV (1.6-liter engine and electric motor, total power of 141 hp), a rechargeable hybrid PHEV (a similar internal combustion engine and a more powerful electric motor, 183 hp, an electric range of up to 65 km) and an all-electric EV (an electric motor with a power of 204 hp, a range of up to 463 km on the WLTP cycle).
It is expected that detailed technical specifications and prices for the updated Kia Niro will become known in March, when official sales of the model begin.
Previously, a unique “nine” with a short wing appeared on sale.
