Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors has started selling a new modification of the Tank 500 SUV, called Hi4-Z and adapted for off-road driving. The main differences from the basic version were increased suspension travel and a reinforced chassis, necessary to overcome difficult terrain.

The Tank 500 Hi4-Z has a minimum ground clearance of 210 millimeters, as well as approach and departure angles of 29 degrees. The car is equipped with a hybrid power plant based on a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine and two electric motors. This configuration allows the SUV to accelerate to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.6 seconds with a claimed fuel consumption of 8.6 liters per 100 kilometers.

In the Chinese market, the cost of the Tank 500 Hi4-Z starts at 364,000 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 4.9 million rubles at the current exchange rate. Despite the high price, the model is in significant demand among buyers, as evidenced by data on pre-orders.

At the end of December, sales of the new 864-horsepower Tank 500 with the Hi4-Z super-hybrid system also started, which aroused great interest among customers. In the first 24 hours after accepting applications, the SUV received 5,989 orders, which is comparable to the sales volume for a month and a half. Although outwardly this version is identical to the Tank 500 familiar to Russians, its technical content is significantly different: the frame has been changed, the mechanical connection between the axles has disappeared, and the all-wheel drive has become completely electric.
