Operating a car in difficult conditions, such as city traffic jams, severe frosts and dusty roads, requires more frequent engine oil changes than specified in official regulations. Evgeniy Ladushkin, head of the expert company LEM Solution, spoke about this in a conversation with Pravda.Ru.
According to the expert, manufacturers calculate replacement periods based on standard conditions, but in reality, the oil life is reduced. “Operation in difficult conditions requires more frequent oil changes. In such cases, you should not wait until the official deadline, otherwise the engine will begin to work with increased load and wear,” explained Ladushkin.
He noted that many drivers mistakenly judge the condition of the oil by its color. Darkening is a natural oxidation process and not an indication of wear. Other signs signal problems: “You need to assess the condition of the oil by the behavior of the car – if vibrations appear, traction worsens, or the engine takes longer to warm up, this is a signal that the oil has lost its characteristics.”
The expert also criticized popular “folk” assessment methods, such as the “drip test” on paper, noting their unreliability. Ladushkin emphasized that to preserve engine life, it is important not only to change the oil in a timely manner, but also to use only certified materials and high-quality filters, avoiding counterfeits.
It was previously reported that in 2025, sales of brands that left Russia sharply increased.
