The National Automobile Union (NAU) proposed to the Russian government to introduce special colored license plates: green for electric vehicles, and turquoise for self-driving vehicles. NAS Vice President Anton Shaparin reported this to TASS. To implement the initiative, amendments to the law on vehicle registration will be required.
“Obviously, other road users need to see driverless vehicles on the road, and the best time to make amendments would be now. At the same time, we understand that we need to immediately set up green license plates for “electric trains” – this is practical, because we provide parking and toll benefits for such cars, and it will be more convenient for law enforcement officers to identify them,” explained Anton Shaparin.
The NAS Vice-President emphasized that the innovations are aimed at improving road safety and will create convenience for law enforcement officers.
