The incident occurred on one of the Californian highways. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the state highway patrol.
“Patrol is on the scene of a 59-vehicle collision on Highway 99. The road is blocked in both directions,” the patrol said in a news release.
According to preliminary data, several people received mild to moderate injuries as a result of the incident. As the ABC television channel points out, the large-scale accident occurred in difficult visibility conditions caused by dense fog.
The local ABC affiliate, KFSN, clarifies that ten victims were taken to receive medical care at a hospital in the region.
