As Carscoops reports, the country’s officials are citing a recent study that describes modern cars, especially electric vehicles, as “smartphones on wheels.” This technology can scan the environment, create 3D maps and collect precise geodata, which poses a potential security risk.
According to study author Paulina Uznanska, the high ability of such machines to collect data creates a serious basis for using them for intelligence purposes.
In response to these findings, the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, General Wieslaw Kukula, plans to issue a directive in the near future prohibiting the entry of Chinese-made vehicles into the territory of all military installations and adjacent parking areas. The Ministry of National Defense confirmed that the corresponding regulations are already being developed.
It is expected that the ban will apply not only to cars from the brands BYD, MG, Nio, Xpeng and Aiways, but also to any vehicles using Chinese software or sensor components.
