The Capricorn Group company, specializing in the production of components for Formula 1 cars and cars of other racing series, presented the second prototype of a hypercar of its own design at the Salon Rétromobile exhibition in Paris. The 01 Zagato declares an “analog” approach to the design and handling of the car, without the influence of electronic systems.
The start of small-scale production of the car is scheduled for the end of 2026. In total, Capricorn plans to assemble 19 copies of the mid-engine hypercar. At the heart of the 01 Zagato is an ultra-light carbon fiber monocoque. The car is equipped with a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 that develops 888 hp. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission, torque is transmitted to the rear wheels. According to the manufacturer, the car accelerates to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 350 km/h.
The Capricorn 01 Zagato will be hand-assembled at the company’s facility in Germany. The car is designed to “deliver a pure, immersive, analog driving experience,” the company said in a statement. There are only two buttons in the car’s interior – for starting the engine and selecting driving modes, as well as several switches. The car is maximally focused on the driver; even its electric power steering is turned off at speeds above 30 km/h.
