The agency found out that, despite loud statements from automakers about the cessation of official supplies, foreign cars continue to enter Russia through China. Manufacturers admit: it is almost impossible to completely block gray schemes – control requires resources and the participation of intermediaries.
Mercedes-Benz reaffirmed the ban on exports to the Russian Federation, but noted the complexity of monitoring. BMW went further and officially ordered the Chinese office to “categorically prevent” any attempts to export cars to Russia. Volkswagen, Toyota and Mazda also reported a lack of direct deliveries.
The focus is on Chinese joint ventures. It is there that both mass-produced Mazda, Honda, Volkswagen and Toyota are produced, as well as premium BMW and Audi, which then enter the Russian market in illegal transit.
