Despite the general optimism about digital technology, the company admits that people are tired of endless displays.

Holger Humpf, who will head the brand’s design department in 2024, in a conversation with Motor1 emphasized: the ideal interior of the future is not a rejection of buttons, but their harmonious union with numbers.

“It’s critical to find a balance between the digital and analog experience,” Humpf explained. “If you push the numbers too far, the car loses the connection with the driver and the very character that Mini is famous for.”

According to him, the brand’s calling card – a round 9.4-inch OLED display, introduced in 2023 – is not going anywhere. On the contrary, the designers intend to develop this unique concept by complementing it with physical interaction.

“The Mini has quite a touch interface, if you ask me,” concluded Humpf. “This round display is all we need.” Its size is perfect and we want to make it even more expressive in the future.”
