The day before it became known that BMW instructed its Chinese division to prevent the export of cars to Russia, although it admitted that cars still enter the country through parallel imports. Director of the sales department of new cars at Rolf, Nikolai Ivanov, in a conversation with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, did not rule out that a reduction in supplies will lead to an increase in the cost of cars.
“This brand is one of the most popular among parallel and alternative imports. If such a situation arises and the supply of BMW cars decreases, then there will be a shortage on the market, which will inevitably lead to an increase in the cost of these cars,” Ivanov noted.
The expert believes that BMW decided to impose restrictions only now because of the growing popularity of the brand in Russia. Based on the results of last year, the demand for German cars remains consistently high – this is one of the most popular brands, despite the lack of official supplies. The consequences of such measures, in his opinion, may appear in the near future.
At the end of 2025, sales of BMW cars in Russia increased by 42%: the figure increased significantly compared to the previous year.
