Supplies of used engines and transmissions to Russia were made through the UAE. Dubai, as one of the world’s car dismantling centers, sent these spare parts directly to the Russian Federation for repairing used cars. This was reported by the SHOT Telegram channel.
“The cost of used engines from the Emirates varied from 80 to 200 thousand rubles. For a new one they asked for up to 600 thousand rubles. All units were delivered from the UAE through Iran along the Caspian Sea to Astrakhan. Now, due to the conflict in the Middle East and attacks on the UAE, supplies may cease for some time,” the publication says.
According to the vice-president of the National Automobile Union (NAU) Anton Shaparin, the stocks of the most popular spare parts in car services will last for a maximum of a month. If the conflict drags on, more than 15 million Japanese car owners who need components will be at risk.
It was previously reported that the conflict in the Middle East blocked thousands of cars that were being transported to Russia.
