In an interview with the Financial Times, Ivan Espinosa said that “anything is possible in this crazy world” when asked about a potential deal.

The new manager took over the company in a very difficult state. Now Nissan is implementing an unprecedented anti-crisis plan: seven factories and two design studios will close, and the staff will be reduced by 20 thousand people. It is expected that at the end of the 2026 financial year, the net loss will be $42 billion (about 290 billion rubles).

The reasons for the crisis are an outdated model range, the breakdown of merger negotiations with Honda and the weakening of the alliance with Renault. The French partner, which continues to reduce its stake in Nissan, is now focusing on collaborating with Ford on the development of electric vehicles.

To survive, Nissan will speed up the development of new models. The cars will be created by the company, however, it is possible that partners will be involved.
