The compact SUV from Renault will only be available for purchase in Asia and the Middle East. The model was created for developing markets, where internal combustion engines and hybrids are still in demand. Carscoops reports this.
The SUV is called Bridger Concept. In the published images, it is a stocky car with a bold appearance: city dimensions, but styling reminiscent of the Land Rover Defender.
Renault says the Bridger will be less than 4 meters long – noticeably shorter than the Renault 4 (4.14 m) and Dacia Duster (4.34 m). Despite its compact dimensions, Renault promises a spacious interior.
The Bridger’s design is deliberately brutal: square proportions and a spare wheel on the fifth door immediately refer to the Suzuki Jimny. How capable the car is in real off-road conditions is still a question, but visually it definitely creates the image of a tough SUV.
The Bridger Concept will be the harbinger of a production model that will be key to Renault’s international expansion. The car will be developed in India (probably at a plant in Chennai), but it will not be sold in Europe – the new product is aimed at the markets of India, Africa and the Middle East.
It was previously reported that the Geely EX5 EM-i was tested in the harsh conditions of the Arctic.
