Insulting a traffic police inspector can cost a driver his freedom. Lawyer Lev Voropaev, in a conversation with Motor, explained that for humiliating the honor and dignity of a government official, he faces liability under Article 319 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
“You cannot tell a traffic police officer that he did not see something because of vision problems, because this can be perceived as a humiliation of the honor and dignity of a government official, expressed in an obscene form, also in a public place. This may entail, among other things, criminal liability under Article 319 of the Criminal Code,” the lawyer said.
Voropaev noted that communication with a representative of the authorities must be correct and absolutely exclude any words that humiliate honor and dignity. The driver should also speak confidentially, without using profanity or other words that could be perceived as an insult.
Earlier, the lawyer explained when a Russian is obliged to run a red light.
