Mitsubishi has long been working on a plan to resurrect the Pajero Mini, but the project was hampered by the demands of engineers who insisted on a frame structure like the Jimny. Now those demands are weakening, insiders say.
Probably, the new Pajero Mini will be based on the platform of the Delica Mini minivan, which is technically the same as the 2020 Mitsubishi eK X Space kei car.

The engine will also be borrowed from the 3.4-meter Delica – a 660 cc turbocharged 3DOHC with 52 and 64 horsepower, complemented by a 2.7-horsepower electric booster. Paired with the engine is a variator, all-wheel drive.

Meanwhile, alliance partner Renault is helping Mitsubishi develop models for Europe. Both will belong to the SUV segment: one will be equipped with an internal combustion engine, the other with a fully electric installation. Renault Symbioz and Scenic E-Tech will share new equipment.
