This car is in demand in the secondary market due to its affordable price and spacious interior. However, the model also has problems that potential buyers should familiarize themselves with in advance.
According to “Behind the Wheel” expert Sergei Zinoviev, the main problems before a run of 100 thousand kilometers are related to electrical and electronics. Owners complain about failures of the media system and all-round camera. In wet weather or after a car wash, the keyless entry system and trunk lock often fail. In addition, as part of the recall campaign in Russia, a defect in the fuel line was eliminated: at temperatures below -40°C, damage to the tubes was possible, which in several cases led to a fire.
Atmospheric engines 2.0 (139 hp) and 2.4 (149 hp) are modernized versions of Toyota engines, but their timing chain life is limited to approximately 150 thousand kilometers. By this time, increased oil consumption may appear.
The 1.8 turbo engine (184 hp) with direct injection is considered more capricious. AI-92 gasoline is contraindicated for it – this can lead to failure of spark plugs and lambda probes. Weak points include the fuel pump and turbine bypass valve. There have been cases of sudden engine seizure that required major repairs. The service life of this engine is estimated at 250 thousand kilometers, while aspirated engines can travel 300 thousand kilometers.
The six-speed hydraulic automatic transmission DSI575F6, which was installed on versions with 2.4 and 1.8 engines, causes the most criticism. The gearbox is an adapted version of the Australian BTR DSI-6 M11 unit, familiar from SsangYong crossovers. It is not very fast, and its service life is about 250 thousand kilometers. Characteristic failures of the control unit, due to which the box begins to twitch, which accelerates wear.
The Geely Atlas suspension is considered quite durable: on normal roads up to 100 thousand kilometers, only the stabilizer strut and, possibly, ball joints require replacement. However, the steering rack and brake discs on some cars were replaced under warranty. There have also been isolated cases of jamming of the electromechanical parking brake.
