The car was demonstrated to the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, and the corresponding footage was published by the city administration. Preparations for the launch of production are at the finish line, the Smolny press service reported.
“The first Jeland car body has already been welded at the site in Shushary. Active commissioning work is underway in the painting shop. This technical process will start in the coming days and will become an important stage in preparation for the launch of full-cycle production with a design capacity of up to 100 thousand cars per year,” the press service reported.
The modernization of the plant in St. Petersburg Shushary was carried out as part of the strategic cooperation of the AGR holding with the Defetoo company. The full cycle of technical re-equipment took eight months – during this time about 600 containers with equipment were delivered to the site.
The amount of work done turned out to be significant: specialists not only re-equipped production workshops, but also built a new test track for post-assembly running-in of cars, tidied up the territory and updated engineering communications. As a result, the former General Motors enterprise has turned into a modern automobile assembly complex, ready to produce cars, the city administration noted.
Earlier it was reported that sales of the updated Tank 700 would start in China.
