The model with a hybrid powertrain will debut at the end of April 2026 and will compete with frame SUVs from Great Wall Motor and BYD, Carnewschina reports.

Judging by the published official images, the new product has a rectangular body with relatively short overhangs, a flat roofline, large side mirrors and semi-hidden door handles. The spare wheel is located on the hinged rear door. Other exterior features include plastic wheel arch protection, black wheels and large headlights.

GAC officials said the model has a “digital chassis,” a term that typically refers to the use of technologies such as steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire. Electromechanical brakes are becoming popular in China, with the Exeed EX7 and Li Auto L9 Livis among the first cars to feature the system.

The new GAC SUV was previously tested in a cold climate in Yakeshi City, which is known as one of the coldest places in China with temperatures below minus 30 degrees Celsius.
