The application for registration was received from Japan in early February 2025. The trademark is registered according to the 12th class of the international classification (ICGS), which covers various types of cars – including crossovers and all-wheel drive crossover SUVs, as well as spare parts for them. The sign will last until February 2035.
Let us recall that in September 2022, Toyota announced the cessation of car production at its plant in St. Petersburg. The enterprise was designed for 100 thousand cars per year.
As Rospatent head Yuri Zubov previously explained in an interview with TASS, foreign brands continue to register and renew trademarks in Russia to protect against counterfeiting. This makes it possible to prevent the sale of goods under the guise of products of the copyright holder.
Thus, the registration of Lexus LBX is not so much a commercial step as a legal one, aimed at maintaining control over the brand on the Russian market.
