The new version of the Rely R08 frame pickup truck under the Pro index was created both for Chinese buyers and for expansion into foreign markets, where the main competitor of this vehicle is the Great Wall Cannon and Toyota Hilux. Already in the factory configuration, the Chery pickup received off-road tires, extended wheel arches, running boards and a snorkel. The cargo platform is equipped with 36 integrated fastenings, which allows you to install various modules up to a camper.
The R08 Pro differs from the standard R08 by a more brutal front end with a rectangular grille, integrated square headlights and a reinforced bumper with crankcase protection. In the cabin there is a 15-inch multimedia system display that supports wireless updating, voice control, and connecting smartphones. There is an all-round visibility system with a “transparent hood” function, six airbags.
Under the hood of the R08 Pro is a 2.3-liter turbodiesel, which is mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The pickup has a double-wishbone front suspension at the front and a spring-mounted axle at the rear.
The drive is a plug-in all-wheel drive from BorgWarner with 2H, 4H and 4L modes, there are also front and rear differential locks. In foreign markets, the R08 Pro is already known as Chery Himla and is positioned as a direct competitor to the Toyota Hilux. The model is already supplied to the Middle East. Chery’s global strategy includes entering the Australian market with a diesel rechargeable hybrid version. In the Chinese market, the main competitor of the new product is the Great Wall Cannon, which is similar in design to the Tank 500 SUV.
