If your car has to be towed from some remote village with a Lada Niva tractor, do not be surprised – this is not a homemade product, but a completely production car. Among the cars of Russian “builders” you can find something different: how about a flatbed truck based on the budget Granta or a Largus bus. Bison and Doe
The PVR company from the Samara region went further and equipped a truck based on the Lada Granta with an enlarged platform. The pickup truck, with its own name “Lan”, has a wheelbase stretched to 3500 mm, and a total length of 5700 mm – 1.4 m longer than the standard Lada Granta sedan.

The flatbed Niva from PVR, called “Bison,” is built on the basis of the VIS-2346 pickup truck and also features an increased wheelbase and a more spacious cargo platform. The machine is designed to transport 900 kg of cargo. The increase in carrying capacity required modifications to the suspension: the Bison has increased ground clearance and strengthened the springs.

The same company PVR turned the classic Niva into a truck tractor with a semi-trailer. The load capacity of such a hitch is 1.5 tons, the length of the semi-trailer cargo platform is 6.2 meters.

Under the hood, depending on the customer’s wishes, there is a 1.8 or 2.0 engine; pneumatic elements can be ordered for the standard spring suspension. It is also possible to increase the carrying capacity of such a Niva to 2.5 tons.
Minivan and ambulance
The three-door classic Lada Niva Legend is designed for only four people, including the driver. But the Promtekh company from Nizhny Novgorod managed to turn it into an eight-seater minivan.
The car in the Kub modification has a wheelbase stretched by 1160 mm compared to the standard Niva. Behind the cabin there is a superstructure made of steel pipes and composite panels, and two three-seater sofas are installed in it. The upgraded engine develops 106 hp. versus 83 hp from a regular Niva.

The Kub on the Largus chassis has a modification for social taxi. This car is equipped with a ladder along which a person in a wheelchair can be rolled into the cabin through the hinged rear doors.
Medical armored car
Ambulances, including armored ones, were built using the same design based on the Niva Legend. The Shvabe-SpetsAvto company made a protected medical vehicle from the Cube with Br3 class armor, which protects against 5.45 caliber bullets. The medical compartment, designed for four wounded, is insulated. The salon is isolated from the cabin.

In addition to the armored version, Shvabe-SpetsAvto has a civilian modification of the ambulance. She has an isolated medical salon for one bedridden patient (on a wheelchair) and two doctors. The car is equipped with an autonomous interior heater and air conditioning. The car with all-wheel drive, ground clearance of 200 mm and air suspension on the rear axle is designed for work in rural areas.

Nizhny Novgorod “Luidor” turned the Lada Largus station wagon into an ambulance transport. This is not an ambulance, but a vehicle for the planned transportation of bedridden patients. Inside can accommodate a driver, two accompanying persons and one patient on a gurney. The most equipped variant is the MS-3 “Covid-19” version.

This Largus has a medical compartment with a plastic finish, air conditioning, a bactericidal recirculator, a separate stove and a 220-volt outlet. There are also simpler modifications without a partition, with conventional folding stretchers. Optionally, a high plastic roof is installed on the car.
Bread van
Gone are the days when vans on medium-duty truck chassis were used to transport baked goods. Now modified passenger cars, for example, Largus, are also used in this capacity.

The carrying capacity of the Largus isothermal bread van from Promtekh is 900 kg. The machine is designed for 81 trays of bread. The structure of the superstructure is standard: three compartments with side doors, inside there are guides for installing standard trays.
Factory products
Semi-frame trucks based on standard Lada sedans are produced by a subsidiary of AvtoVAZ and have been known since the 1990s under the VIS brand. Once upon a time they had cabs from the VAZ “classics”, now these cars are based on the front-wheel drive Granta and the classic Niva.
There are many options for add-ons – from a simple on-board platform (with or without a plastic cover). And in the case of the Niva cargo truck, options are possible regarding the passenger capacity of the cabin. It can be either double or five-seater. Functionality is not only the transportation of goods.
Such a Niva can be an auxiliary fire engine, a rescue vehicle, or a special vehicle for the police canine service. In this case, the cargo compartment is equipped with two cages for service dogs, heating and air conditioning.
