The company’s report for the 2026 financial year (ended March 31, 2026) was published on May 14, IT Home reports.
The company’s net profit turned out to be negative: minus 423.9 billion yen (approximately 182.8 billion rubles). The drop compared to the previous year was 150.72% – then Honda was still recording profits, the portal reports.
This is an unprecedented case in the entire history of the brand, which spans about seven decades. It is curious that Honda’s revenue increased by 0.5%, reaching 21.80 trillion yen (about 9.4 trillion rubles).
The main reason for the failure is a large-scale restructuring of the electric vehicle sector. The company wrote off large amounts as part of an adjustment to its EV strategy: one-time expenses amounted to 952.6 billion yen (about 410 billion rubles).
Previously, the most popular cheap foreign cars for import from China to Russia were named.
